Big thank you to the legendary voice of the New York Yankees Suzyn Waldman for coming on my show for an interview! Suzyn talked about starting out on broadway & theater, joining WFAN in 1987, and the hardships she faced for being a woman in the broadcasting industry. She is the first woman in history to be a full time color commentator for a professional team. She got into her experience in TV at WPIX in the 90's, calling St. John's basketball games, and covering the Knicks. She told the story of when she first worked with her play-by-play partner John Sterling. We discussed the impact that sports and the Yankees had on the healing process of 9/11 and she told her story of witnessing the September 11th attacks. We also talked about her help in ending the 14 year feud between Yogi Berra and George Steinbrenner as well as her calling Derek Jeter's last game. Suzyn is also the first woman to call a MLB World Series, which was in 2009 when the Yankees defeated the Phillies in 6 games. At the end of the interview, she gave her thoughts on the Yankees acquiring Joey Gallo and Anthony Rizzo as well as what she thinks the outcome of their season will be.
