DJ Suss One talks Power 105.1 & The Feature Presentation Studios on ”Sports and Hip-Hop with DJ Mad Max”

Big thank you to Power 105.1's DJ Suss One for coming on my show for an interview! Suss One talked about his start in the music industry as an intern at Sony Music, starting out in radio at Power 104.1 in Hartford, CT., and landing his show on Power 105.1. He mentioned being inspired and growing up in the DJ mixtape era. He spoke about his interest of creating movies, specifically horror, and his company The Feature Presentation Studios. We went over the classic horror movies from the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s & how the 80s were the golden age for horror and slasher films. We got into how the radio industry has changed and how it has become more of a business as well as the true New York Hip-Hop sound not being played on New York Hip-Hop FM radio stations. Suss One has a lot on the way as far as content for his show and horror movie scripts. You can catch him mixing live on The Wendy Williams Show as well as live on Power 105.1 on Saturdays from 10am-2pm est and Sundays from 4-8pm est & 10pm-2am est.

David Bars talks B=MC2 (The Bar Exam), will.i.am, and D.I.T.C. ”Sports and Hip-Hop with DJ Mad Max”

Shoutout to my guy David Bars for coming on my show for an interview. We discussed his new album B=MC2 (The Bar Exam) with Mono En Stereo, his upcoming work with Hip-Hop legend Diamond D, and who he wants to go bar for bar with on a future song. He got into his break from music, recording over the quarantine, and how the pandemic changed his life for the better. He talked about his studio session with Fat Joe for his song A Star is Born off of The Bar Code and the talks of singing a deal to eOne with will.i.am. He will be dropping a freestyle to DMX's Get at Me Dog next week, stay tuned!

Lil Poppa talks new album Blessed, I Guess and meeting DMX on ”Sports and Hip-Hop with DJ Mad Max”

Thank you to Jacksonville, Florida's own Lil Poppa for coming on my show for an interview! Lil Poppa talked about his new album Blessed, I Guess, his reaction to the album listing at 160 on the top BillBoard Charts, and the story behind the title. He told his story of meeting DMX and the important advice that he gave him. He spoke about signing to Rule #1/Interscope Records and why they are the best label suited for him. He listed his top five rappers of all time and stressed why it is important for new artists to respect the legends in Hip-Hop as well as why it is essential for the legends to be played on the radio as well. DJ Wonder talks Sway in the Morning and his horror fandom on ”Sports and Hip-Hop with DJ Mad Max”

Thank you to DJ Wonder for coming on my show for an interview! DJ Wonder talked about his start in radio, becoming a DJ, and starting out at Hot 97. He told the story of becoming the DJ and Producer for Sway in the Morning on Sirius XM on Shade 45. He spoke about his new podcast Complete Animals as well as his show AnimalStatus on Sirius XM on Shade 45 at 10pm est on Wednesdays and how he came up with the ideas for those shows. He got into his fandom of horror movies and how he celebrates the Halloween season in October. We also discussed the horrorcore genre of hip hop and why it may not be as popular as it once was.

Hip-Hop Legend Diamond D talks Gotham, Big Pun & Biggie Smalls on "Sports and Hip-Hop with DJ Mad Max"

Big thank you to Grammy Award winning legendary producer and emcee Diamond D of D.I.T.C. for returning to Sports and Hip-Hop! Diamond D talked about his new album with Talib Kweli called Gotham, the story behind his Best Kept Secret music video with Anthony Mason, and his reaction to being named in Daz Dillinger's Top 5 producers of all time. He told the story of playing songs for The Notorious B.I.G. before he passed away. We got into Big Pun's first record with Fat Joe called Watch Out produced by Diamond D off of Fat Joe's Jealous Ones Envy. He discussed his most recent albums The Diam Piece and The Diam Piece 2, especially his Bela Lugosi reference on Jose Feliciano off of The Diam Piece. Diamond D also revealed that there will be a Gotham 2 with Talib Kweli and he also is working on his solo albums The Rear View & The Diam Piece 3. The Rear View should be releasing this fall or winter and will feature Dre from Cool & Dre and Westside Gunn. Stay tuned!

Shoutout to Queens' own Raël for coming on my show for an interview for the third independent artist interview of Independent Artist Hour Spotlight with DJ Mad Max! Raël talked about starting out in Gospel and being inspired by R&B artists such as Chris Brown & Tory Lanez. He wants to make R&B drill. He discussed his newest singles No Hesi, Time, and Come Close that are available on his SoundCloud. He also talked about how he observes the music industry and how he plans to stick out among all of the clout chasing artists on Instagram. Shoutout to Boston's own Prettyboict for coming on my show for an interview for the second independent artist interview of Independent Artist Hour Spotlight with DJ Mad Max! Prettyboict talked about how he was inspired by 90s Hip Hop, why Boston is underrated in the rap game, and his newest single Mpr (money, power, respect). He detailed his life story of playing football in high school and college as well as when he decided to take on a career in hip hop. He got into the racism that takes place in Boston that the news does not cover as well as growing up in Roxbury, Massachusetts. He intends on creating music that is true to himself as well as making Boston Drill music. He will be dropping his new single next week, stay tuned.

We started with his time at Butler University's college radio station, his 32 year run at WFAN, and the start of his play by play announcing for St. John's Mens Basketball games.
