Hot 97's Hip Hop Mike on "Sports and Hip-Hop with DJ Mad Max" on WSJU Radio at St. John's University

     I want to thank my guy Hip Hop Mike for coming on my show "Sports and Hip-Hop with DJ Mad Max" on WSJU Radio at St. John's University last night. I had a great time! We discussed the current state of Hip-Hop as well as the early 2000s and 90s era of Hip-Hop. Mike described Hip-Hop as being sub genres of different styles and Rap being more about the bars. He told his story growing up as a Queens native and being a huge fan of Nas. His favorite album is Illmatic. His inspirational journey to Hot 97 began when he was younger, living at a group home, and he wrote to all the members of Hot 97 at the time. The only one who responded back was Peter Rosenberg and this would later help Mike achieve his dream to be at Hot 97. Later on, he won tickets to Hot 97's event Rock The Bells three times in the hopes of meeting his idol Nas and ended up running into Rosenberg backstage. This solidified Mike's dream of being at Hot 97. Mike also told us how he got his name Hip Hop Mike. One of my favorite moments from this interview was when we recited Big Pun's famous Twinz (Deep Cover '98) line: "Dead in the middle of Little Italy little did we know that we riddled some middlemen who didn't do diddly". We closed out the show with a cypher of fire freestyles from St. John's University's own emcees Sayku and Loko Warbucks. I want to thank Sayku and Loko for their dope performances. Most of all, thanks again Hip Hop Mike for coming on my show and giving me positive advice because it means a lot to me! He's a very hard worker. Chase Money/Chase Euro & Q Life on "Sports & Hip-Hop with DJ Mad Max" on WSJU Radio at St. John's University

      I want to thank Chase Money and Q Life for coming on my show "Sports and Hip-Hop with DJ Mad Max" today for an interview. They represent the real Hip-Hop and brought a lot of energy to the show. You can hear their emotions in their music, especially in the 13 minute freestyle they performed on this show! That was one of the greatest freestyles and rhyming I've heard on my show! Omar Wilson talks collaborating with DMX and his nomination for the 50th NAACP Image Awards for outstanding new artist on "Sports and Hip-Hop with DJ Mad Max" on WSJU Radio at St. John's University

     I want to thank my brother and CT's own RnB singer Omar Wilson for calling into my show last night on WSJU radio at St. John's University! He discussed his inspiration to write music and the artists he looked up to. He reminds me of Donny Hathaway, Aaron Hall, and K-CI. He was a performer in a group called Lost Souls, from North Carolina. He described what it's like being from Norwalk, CT as well as being a three time Apollo winner. He has opened up for artists such as Boyz II Men, Jagged Edge, and Justin Timberlake. He has many underground songs such as The Jungle, 100 Ways, and Ride. He collaborated with CT's own emcee Jahan Nostra on Living Your Life. He has a song with DMX called Faith as well as an upcoming remix of one of his songs coming soon with the Wu-Tang Clan's own chef Raekwon. He is a nominee for this year's 50th NAACP Image Awards for outstanding new artist and congratulations on that because that's a major accomplishment. As a native of CT, it's important to support our own and stop tearing each other down! We have a lot of real talented artists and we need to spread love, not hate!      I want to thank SJU artists SB4 and Delfacto for coming on my show today for an exclusive interview. SB4 talked about his love for poetry and music. He also discussed his music that he has out now as well as the music he has coming soon. Delfacto named his favorite producers and described what he uses to produce music. Hip Hop legend Rampage The Last Boy Scout talks about the Flipmode Squad and being on the Flava In Ya Ear Remix on "Sports and Hip-Hop with DJ Mad Max" on WSJU Radio at St. John's University

     I want to thank Hip-Hop legend Rampage for calling into my show last night on WSJU Radio at St. John's University. He mentioned many rappers who influenced him including Special Ed and Chubb Rock. Growing up in Flatbush Brooklyn, NY he lived around many of these rappers. Busta Rhymes is his first cousin and they are in the same group known as the Flipmode Squad. He talked about signing his first deal and being on the greatest Hip-Hop remix of all time, which is Craig Mack's Flava In Ya Ear Remix. He discussed his friendships with Craig Mack and The Notorious B.I.G. aka Biggie Smalls. He has another song with Craig Mack that they recently had recorded before Craig Mack sadly, passed away. We talked about his classic first album Scout's Honor... by Way of Blood and the hit song off of the album Wild for da Night. One of the greatest parts about this interview was that Rampage was freestyling at times! He started the hashtag/term for Hip-Hop today and that is mumble rap. He has kept it real from day one and tells it like it is. He made his music the way he wanted to and I have always loved the grittiness in his music. He has a lot going on: he is going to be in an upcoming movie, he is creating a cartoon, he has his own headphone brand, he has his own sports and Hip-Hop show on NBC, and he is a DJ. Be on the lookout because he has a vault of tracks recorded and he will be dropping a new album soon called When Hell Freezes Over! Mr. Dalvin from the legendary RnB group Jodeci on "Sports and Hip-Hop with DJ Mad Max" on WSJU Radio at St. John's University

     I want to thank Mr. Dalvin for calling into my show last night on WSJU Radio at St. John's University. He talked about his influences to make music as well as his brother Devante's gift for songwriting. They were born in Virginia, moved to North Carolina, and eventually moved to New York to sign with Uptown records. When they teamed up with K-CI and JoJo, they formed one of the greatest RnB groups of all time known as Jodeci. They went on to win four Billboard Awards and two Soul Train Awards. We discussed the making behind all of their albums and their hit song Forever My Lady was originally going to be called the Jodeci interlude. He also discussed what it was like working with some of the industries legends such as Puff Daddy, Redman, Suge Knight, 2Pac, and the Wu-Tang Clan. We talked about his classic solo album Met.A.Mor.Phic that released in 2000. He mentioned his favorite artists today and one who he would love to collaborate with is Drake. He confirmed that a Jodeci biopic is in the works. He said that we can expect a new Jodeci album this year, which I and many people will definitely be looking forward to! Loko Warbucks, Mani, and G Sleazy talk Winter Sprinter on "Sports and Hip Hop with DJ Mad Max" on WSJU Radio at St. John's University

     I want to thank my brother Loko Warbucks and his crew Mani and G Sleazy for coming on my show "Sports and Hip Hop with DJ Mad Max" last night on WSJU radio at St. John's University. This interview is for Loko Warbucks' debut album Winter Sprinter, which will be available on all music platforms this Friday, March 1st! We broke down all the tracks on the album as well as the backstory behind them. The intro on this album is one of the greatest into's that I have ever heard, if not the greatest.      I want to thank up and coming rapper Litty Rocc for coming on my show for an interview today along with Druski from Money Clip Entertainment! We discussed his music and his upcoming mixtape expected to release on April 11th, so be on the lookout for that! He can do real Hip-Hop along with trap music and you can hear his emotion in his music. Litty Rocc spit a fire, emotional freestyle in this interview over Tsu Surf's What If instrumental. He is also involved in the London scene of Hip Hop, now living in Queens, New York.  They also talked about what sports teams they root for. NY Jets' Kelvin Beachum Jr. on "Sports & Hip-Hop with DJ Mad Max" with guest co-host Tony Paventa on WSJU Radio at St. John's University

     I want to thank Kelvin Beachum Jr. for calling into my show last night! He is very personable and a great guy! He talked about his good deeds and his charity work off the field as well as his college career at SMU. He told us what it was like for him and his wife to be at the Super Bowl as a nominee for the NFL Walter Payton Man of The Year Award, even though he wasn't playing with the New York Jets in the big game! He described what it was like being drafted and playing for one of his favorite teams growing up the Pittsburgh Steelers. He also told us what Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin is like as well as the ex-New York Jets head coach Todd Bowles. Tony Paventa asked a great question about his time playing with the Jacksonville Jaguars in London, in which they defeated the Indianapolis Colts and he described how the team prepped for that time difference. He told us personally who are the toughest defensive players that he's faced against. He spoke about what it was like coming to New York, being from Texas, and signing with the Jets. Kelvin is also a fan of Gospel music such as the Temptations, Blackstreet, and The Isley Brothers. The mindset for Kelvin and the Jets, like it is always, is to take the next step, make the playoffs, get to and win the Super Bowl.
